Tattoo Aftercare
We recommend using Bepanthen for Tattoo aftercare and sell the cream in the shop. Once you get home please follow the instructions below to ensure your tattoo heals properly and will therefore look its best.
LEAVE the sterile dressing on your tattoo for between 1 AND 2 HOURS
WASH YOUR HANDS before removing the dressing
Once the dressing is removed wash your tattoo in warm water using your usual soap
DO NOT RUB with a flannel
PAT IT DRY with a CLEAN towel
Once finished washing the tattoo will should no longer feel slimy or look glazed
DO NOT RE-BANDAGE your tattoo - your skin needs air to heal
Now that your tattoo and hands are CLEAN you apply a light layer of Bepanthen - Rub it very gently into your tattoo
REMEMBER your tattoo is similar to a wound and must be looked after properly
AVOID CONTACT with pets, dirt, oil, petrol, fish ponds or chemicals
If you work in a dirty environment wear a loose fitting long-sleeved shirt to avoid any dirt entering your tattoo. Also whilst your tattoo is healing keep it out of direct sunlight
YOU MUST NOT SWIM, USE SUNBEDS, SUN BATHE, SAUNA or do anything that will make you sweat alot and therefore "sweat out" your tattoo (this would include going to the gym) until your tattoo is completely healed
You can shower, but remember DO NOT RUB the tattoo when washing or drying... pat it dry
- WASH your hands then your tattoo when you GET UP and then apply Bepanthen
- WASH your hands then your tattoo 3-4 TIMES A DAY and then apply Bepanthen
- WASH your hands then your tattoo when you go to BED and then apply Bepanthen
DO NOT LET YOUR TATTOO DRY OUT - If you do IT WILL SCAB UP
If it does scab - DO NOT PICK THE SCAB - doing that will affect the tattoo and healing process
Your skin may start peeling after 2-3 days, this is normal - DO NOT PEEL skin off, let it come off naturally as part of the washing and healing process
Your tattoo can generate a lot of heat whilst healing - a cold flannel can help to take the heat out of your healing skin
Keep a thin layer of Bepanthen over your tattoo for about 7 days
After that your tattoo should be healed enough to then use baby oil or a mild moisturiser
